Purpose of Riverhorse Valley Business Estate

The purpose of the RHVBEMA is to create, enhance and protect the value of property ownership and occupation within Riverhorse Valley Business Estate. Property owners are direct members of their associations. Tenants, neighbouring communities, visitors to the area and a wide range of other stakeholders are also beneficiaries of the activities of the association. To achieve its purpose, the Association under direction of its Board provides a management structure and contract service providers in respect of security/safeguarding, landscaping maintenance, general maintenance, environmental management, design review and administration. Its purpose is further to:
 
  • Advance and protect the interest of its members (owners of immovable property).
  • Regulate the environment, with particular focus on safeguarding and environmental management.
  • Control and co-ordinate development through the Design Review Panel, with particular reference to aesthetic standards, design, contractor management and signage review.
  • Provide, promote and maintain essential services, amenities and activities.
Estate Manager. Bruce Macaulay, and Admin Officer Celine Spies, assisted by Brian Wright (Urban Management) handle onsite operations and administration for the Management Association, as well as overseeing the daily operations of all service providers, handle all queries from members, coordinate all meetings of the board of directors, sub-committees, including the AGM, and the publishing of all minutes for those meetings, as well as the collecting of levies, financial management of the Estate's affairs, and development control.
 
Also an important function is the maintaining of communications between parties that financially contribute to the management association ensuring that all complaints / concerns are addressed with professionalism and efficiency. The team reports to the elected board of directors on all matters comprising the Management Associations mandate to the estate. Those core mandates apart from the day to day issues, are the interaction with City Departments to increase Municipal service levels, and where necessary to lobby on behalf of members on issues or requirements which are in the public interest. The aesthetic of the Estate is an important component and a high standard is maintained with on-site contractors who provide top-up services to those provided by the City in the areas of landscaping and street cleansing, enhancing value and protecting property values on the estate. The Management Association also acts as liaison for communications between local communities and the City, and, where possible, we involve ourselves in projects with our surrounding communities. These are recognized as being socially and environmentally sustainable in order to promote itself as an example of triple bottom line corporate responsibility.
